In two years of "city expedition", it has been possible to foster the development of the new Kempten-Museum together with a growing number of partners and the urban population. In 2016, the Kempten-Museum was still a classic city museum - now, in the final version, the theme of "participation" extends through almost all rooms and is anchored in the self-image of the institution. There will be a central "public space" for participatory projects. In order to achieve this, the "city expedition" has carried out various cooperation projects, public events and calls (a detailed description of all projects can be found at www.stadtexpedition-kempten.de). For the museum administration in Kempten the "city expedition" is to be regarded as a complete success. Without the funding of the "Bundeskulturstiftung" the "city expedition" could not have taken place and the new Kempten-Museum would not be a participatory museum.
