The Collaborative Heritage Mapping Project (MPC), led by the Faculty of Geography, History and Tourism of the Salvador University (Argentina), aimed to design and implement a new tool for the survey and interpretation of cultural heritage resources. Non-traditional methodologies, such as the active participation of citizens, were used during the project in order to create synergies between the various disciplines of knowledge. The MPC intended to increase awareness, appropriation and interpretation of all aspects that characterize the natural and cultural heritage in the towns situated along the low Uruguay River, with a view to furthering regional development via sustainable educational and touristic initiatives.

The field works of the project was carried out with teachers from primary and secondary schools through a Plan of Recovery of the Hispanic Guaraní Heritage in the territory of the low Uruguay River. The activities were conducted in 2011 and 2012 in three communities of Entre Ríos, where local actors were involved in the interdisciplinary research and the appropriation of the knowledge about their own local heritage.
