My Cultural Heritage: perceptions of heritage in small towns

Small towns in the Mazovian-Podlasie border region, between Łomża and Białystok, have a rich multicultural history. In most of them Catholics, Jews, Orthodox and Evangelicals coexisted. They left traces of their presence on the landcape and in the memory of people. This project is based on the notion that it is important to ascertain what people know about cultural heritage in the places where they are living. To this purpose, a questionnaire was prepared adressed to young adults - high school graduates - who study in four local schools. A total of about 300 students responded to the questionnaire. This group of respondents, at least theoretically, has unlimited acces to knowledge on the Internet. Where do they enounter cultural heritage? Where do they get knowlage about it? The answer to these and other questions will allow to find the right channels to popularize knowledge about cultural heritage in small communities.
