The TRACES project (Transmitting Contentious Cultural Heritage with the Arts) aims to devolop art- and research-based strategies that facilitate the transmission of contentious or difficult heritage in a sensitive manner, thus contributing to fostering reflection and dialogue between people holding opposing viewpoints. To achieve this purpose, TRACES has devised five creative co-productions (CCPs), which focus on selected examples of contentious heritage. In collaboration with researchers, heritage professionals and stakeholders, the artists involved in CCPs confront specific issues, related to difficult heritage, through experimental art. Their creative work will enalble cultural institutions to discover new ways of framing and representing controversial issues.
